President, Women in Aviation (WIA), Nigeria Chapter, Mrs. Rejoice Ndudinachi has called on young Nigerians especially women, to build a future in aviation; adding that WIA will do its best to encourage young people to take up a career in aviation.
Speaking in a conference at Abuja, Mrs. Ndudinachi stated that one of the objectives of Women In Aviation Nigeria, is to ensure that the young ones are provided with career role models. She noted that WIA besides pledging to pursue this vigorously with all its resources, is also commited to ‘catching them young’ hence the reason for contributing immensely to organise series of activities to help the young ones. According to her, the most recent of such activities is the Nigerian girl in Aviation Day; which is usually organised every year, she said that the event is a whole day event that features tours of airport facilities including forecast office, aircraft familirization etc. The prospective young aviators are also exposed to a lot of hands-on activities int he various avaiation endeavours. Today we have about 18 aviation clubs in various schools, she asserted.
WIA Nigeria, she maintained, has the objective to connect, engage, inspire and also reach out to schools to sensitive students about carrier opportunities in aviation, thereby empowering them for better career choirces; noting, “Knowledge is Power as the saying goes”
